Day 325

Belleville (20th Arrondissement)

A lazy Sunday in Paris never has a short list of things to do. My Australian friend and I walked around the Belleville area in the 20th Arrondissement of Paris. It is a very diverse area with great little restaurant and cafés, it even has it very own little chinatown. The city is filled with colorful streets with graffiti art and pieces of art. It's something worth seeing.

We made our way up to Parc des Butte Chaumont. It is the fifth biggest park in Paris. It has a lake and even a little temple perched on top of a cliff. We chose a spot on a hill that wasn't so crowded. We laid out a blanket and took out the 1664 Rosé beer, the warm baguette accompanied by the herbed cheese spread. Soon enough our friends joined us and the party began. One of them brought a big pot pasta and we all dug in with our forks. We played Harry Potter trivia, and blasted music. We played music from all over, from French to Spanish to even Italian. We got up and danced under the stars.

We stayed till 12am and we went over our friends house to hang out for a bit. We made the last metro home. Picnicking has easily became one of my favorite things to do. Its something I never did in the States. I would have my meals outside sometimes maybe on a bench or at the beach. Living in Paris I do have more worries and stresses but for some reason I feel more liberated and happy. Just slowing down my life and doing a small picnic with the right people impacts me so much.
